Ayurveda, originating in India, dates back over 5,000 years. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda translates to

Ayurveda is based on the balancing of equal parts- mind, body and spirit. Nutrition and daily routines are vital to balancing your internal state thus effecting your external self. Yoga and meditation are also integral parts of balancing one's self.
Everyone has a unique pattern of energy- a personal combination of mental, physical and emotional characteristics- which comprises their own constitution. Learning about your constitution, or Dosha, is a key aspect of Ayurveda. Our Dosha (or Prakruti) is established at conception and can not be changed. Our Vikruti is our current state and can be easily affected by our environment, stress, emotioanal state, even weather...
Many factors, both internal and external act upon us to disrupt this balance.
Balance is the natural order; imbalance is disorder. Health is order, disease is disorder.
Inflammation is widely believed to be the cause of 95% of chronic diseases. Ayurveda focuses on reducing inflammation and restoring balance. By learning your Dosha, you can learn how to balance yourself through activity, breathing and nutrition.
Through Ayurveda I learned that what is
healthy for some,
is not healthy for all.
